In the 60s and 70s shoes were sometimes passed over for bare feet. Bare feet have been said to symbolize innocence or childhood. This is possibly one reason why hippies were often barefoot during the 60s and 70s. But many people besides hippies have taken the barefoot path. Models, movie stars, groupies, musicians, etc have followed this natural path. I think its yet another wonderful counterculture movement. To feel the grass, dirt, or flowers between your toes just sounds very relaxing and nice. There is definitely an innocence to it. It brings you back to a simpler time and you just feel happy. There is also a country vibe to it. Your in a huge field just walking through, with your feet touching everything that they walk on. Wonderful.
